The definition of the word “revelation” is stated in the dictionary as a Surprising and previously unknown fact, especially one made dramatically – The making known of a secret or the unknown.
Something has to be revealed, made known, or seen before you can have a revelation of it. The veil has to be removed before you can see who or what is behind it. It is like going to a masked ball and only once the people attending remove their masks can the identity of each person be revealed. Sometimes it is surprising and dramatic if the person is someone you did not expect to be there.
Revelation can also occur while working or studying. You might be battling to solve the reason for a problem on a piece of equipment or a computer program, how an equation is formulated. Once you have acquired the correct knowledge and advice you get that spark of insight, that ‘aha’ moment on why something is not working and what should be done to ensure it does not happen again. You have had a revelation of the working of the matter. You see the picture or see with understanding.
You can also explain revelation when reading or studying the scripture. You have the same passage of scripture you read for many years and one day you see and read the same scripture differently. You have that ‘aha’ moment. You get that deeper insight and understanding when your inner eyes are opened.
